The Cumberland Arms, or the Cumby as it is known in Bishop Auckland, has been part of the towns history for many years, as the present Landlord Karl, who took over early 2005, can attest as his Great Great Grandfather was also the landlord.

The Cumberland Arms is at the Cockton Hill end of Newgate Street and plays an important part of the towns social life. With a regular line up of pub games, events and music, the pub is a favourite with the local crowd.
